Maryellen's Door-knocking appeal - Part 1
Maryellen is an extraordinary person (right in the picture). Not only is she Karuna USA’s highly skilled, highly dedicated Major Donor’s Fundraiser, she has recently started a six-week door-knocking appeal to raise funds for Karuna’s work in South Asia.
She’s doing it in the Glasgow, UK, where the accent is thick. So she avidly watched the comedy TV show “Still Game” to, well, get ahead of the game!
She left behind her beloved corgi for six weeks (we will miss #findthecorgi FB posts for now), though is making up for it in this picture with Sanghamani, an ace Karuna Appeal trainer.
Door-knocking as a spiritual practice is no easy task. It can be immensely rewarding to connect with a stranger and have them have trust in you enough to donate to your cause. Then again, a lot of doors will close before this happens, which isn’t easy.
Maryellen has reported from her Glaswegian-base descriptives like: rich-learning, an amazing team, head-spinning. All of these seem very fitting. She is certainly leaning into the challenge and finding rewards.
If you know Maryellen, send her a message of support. I’m sure she’s love to hear from you.
